Villages of Hiraethog
Although Hiraethog has plenty of open space, this unspoilt area also has a surprising number of villages and settlements where you will find ample opportunities to sample some of the hospitality of North Wales. Villages in Hiraethog such as Gwytherin, Nantglyn, Llanrhaeadr, Cyffylliog, Clocaenog, Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, Llangwm, Cerrigydrudion, and finally Pentrefoelas, are all worth exploring and the area as a whole is a popular area for cycling, walking, fishing and watersports.
There are a number of cafés in and around the villages, including the Llyn Brenig Café which has one of the most scenic views of any eatery - the picture windows look right across the reservoir with its backdrop of forests and moorland. A great place for refreshments when you have been walking, cycling or fishing - and a destination worth visiting in its own right! The menu changes weekly.
The Riverside Chocolate House & Tearoom at Pentrefoelas is a unique attraction - a perfect combination of hand-made chocolate and a tearoom specialising in hot chocolate drinks made using real chocolate. As well as hand-making chocolate on the premises, the Riverside Chocolate House stocks hand-made truffles and chocolates made by two other chocolatiers, which means that you can select from around 50 different choices from an ever changing range.
